Job description

About the position:

This position will be assigned to the Beale Pools, Beale AFB, CA. This is a temporary position, not to exceed November 1, 2025. This position is flexible, no guaranteed hours and does not receive benefits. This position has physical lifting requirements which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.

During announcement, applications will be pulled and reviewed for consideration every 1st and 15th of the month.

Duties

Observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, and pool decks.

Requirements
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • The position requires the following certifications: American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Basic First-Aid and American Red Cross Lifeguard Training.
  • This position requires practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures as well as pool safety and pool maintenance requirements.
  • This is a temporary position, not to exceed 1-Nov-2025.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. Must be able to obtain or possess certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
