Job description

About the position:

This position will be assigned to the Whiteman Outdoor Pool.

This position is considered flexible. You are guaranteed 0 hours, but could work up to 40 hours per week. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible to earn annual leave or sign up for benefits.

Employees will be eligible for use of the fitness center, golf course, bowling center, club, swimming pools, and other activities.

Who May Apply:

Open to everyone. Applicants will be categorized by preference(s) and/or priority consideration eligibilities. Eligibility will be determined based on the questionnaire and must be supported by proof of eligibility submitted with the application by 06/30/2025.

Eligible categories include Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Outside Applicant Veteran, Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, and Transition Hiring Preference.

Qualifications:

To qualify, you must meet the experience requirements below, which include paid, unpaid, and volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or other organizations. All qualifying experience, including volunteer experience, will be credited. Your resume must clearly describe relevant experience, and transcripts are required if education qualifies you for the position.

Qualifying Experience:

• For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must have an approved, current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue, basic first aid, and CPR (child and adult).
• For coastal lifeguards: In addition to the above, must have surf rescue techniques training.
• Experience with swimming activities, rules, procedures, and skill in using and maintaining pool and safety equipment is desirable.
• Satisfactory completion of installation records checks may be required for positions involving lifesaving duties for children.
