East Portland Comprehensive Treatment Center, part of Acadia Healthcare, seeks a Peer Support Specialist to help patients recover from addictions and navigate the continuum of care. You will draw on lived experience to support, guide, and empower individuals toward sustained recovery.

Responsibilities include engaging patients at intake, advocating for care, mentoring, and connecting with community resources to aid housing, employment, and health outcomes.

Qualifications

• HS graduate or equivalent required.
• No prior field experience required.
• Direct experience in substance abuse via personal life experience, internship, or certification process.

Responsabilités

• Provide peer support to clinically complex patients using shared experience to guide recovery.
• Engage patients at initial contact to facilitate screening for appropriate care level.
• Act as advocate and mentor to promote empowerment and engagement in recovery.
• Model coping techniques and self-help strategies for personal growth and well-being.
• Share knowledge about treatment options including methadone, buprenorphine, or extended-release naltrexone.
• Liaise between patients, clinical team, and community resources to meet social needs.
• Assist in obtaining housing, necessities, and daily living skills.
• Help establish ongoing care with primary providers in a coordinated approach.
• Link patients with local employers to support gainful employment.
• Support development of life and social skills to promote long-term recovery.
