Job summary

MBI Health Services in Taylor, WA seeks a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to help clients define and reach their recovery goals within a high‑touch, community‑based program.

You will work with a multi‑disciplinary team, accompany clients to appointments, visit them in their homes and in social settings, teach skills for independence, and connect them with benefits and community resources to support lasting recovery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a human services field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing assessment of clients’ wants and needs and facilitate the development and updating of the Individualized Recovery Plan.
• Teach clients how to manage their illness through symptom recognition, management, and coping skills.
• Teach skills to facilitate independence and achievement of recovery goals, including daily living and interpersonal skills.
• Provide at least three face‑to‑face contacts per day with clients in the community.
• Assist and support clients in crisis situations.
• Assist clients in applying for benefits (SSI, Medicaid, Section 8, energy assistance, reduced‑fare metro cards).
• Help clients develop natural support networks by locating community resources (AA, self‑help groups, recreational centers).

Job Details. Job Location: Taylor -CSA - Washington, DC 20011. Salary Range: $45,000.00 - $47,000.00.

The Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) assists clients in defining their goals for recovery and aids them in meeting those goals. The ACT Model involves an integrated, multi‑disciplinary team approach to providing high‑intensity rehabilitative services, support, and interventions to assist clients in achieving their personal recovery goals. Much of this work involves teaching clients the skills necessary to successfully manage their illness and live as independently as possible. In addition, RSSs link clients to services and professionals that can assist in the client’s recovery. Forming trusting relationships that are therapeutic and supportive is the manner in which Recovery Support Specialists are able to be most helpful for clients. As they accompany clients to appointments, visit clients in their homes, and meet with clients where they socialize, worship, and work, recovery support specialists facilitate recovery and integration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist clients in applying for all benefits and entitlements that will provide for their needs, such as SSI, Medicaid, Section8, energy assistance, and reduced‑fare metro cards.
• Assist clients in developing natural support networks by locating supports and services in the community such as AA, self‑help groups, and recreational centers.
