Child and Family Services in New Bedford, MA is seeking a Recovery Support Navigator to assist individuals on their recovery journey. The role includes screening, insurance authorizations, referrals, and coordinating services with an emphasis on trauma-informed, recovery-oriented care.

This full-time position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years in addiction recovery settings, plus strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field required.
• Minimum two years of related work experience in addiction recovery environment or lived experience.
• Excellent communication and good working knowledge of computers; strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Screening and intake interviews to determine eligibility for services.
• Provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, person-centered care based on consumer needs.
• Explore treatment options, clarify goals, provide education and resources, and assist access to services.
• Participate as a care team member and support the care plan goals for consumers.
• Provide transportation assistance to essential medical/behavioral health appointments when needed.
• Provide RSN services seven days per week, including on-call coverage.
• Deliver services on a mobile basis in safe settings and maintain community connections.
• Engage with resources including primary care, mental health, housing, and social supports.

The Recovery Support Navigator will provide support to individuals in their recovery journey. The RSN will work closely with recovery coaches and be responsible for screening, intakes, insurance authorizations, and making appropriate referrals for services.

FULL-TIME SCHEDULE: Monday 8AM-4:30PM, Tuesday 11:30AM-8PM, Wednesday 10AM-6PM, Thursday 11:30AM-8PM, Friday 8AM-4:30PM

• Conduct screening and intake interviews to determine consumer eligibility for services
• Provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, person-centered care based on the unique needs of consumer
• Explore treatment recovery options with the consumer, clarify goals and strategies, provide education and resources, and assist consumers in accessing treatment and community supports
• Participate as an active care team member, work with the care team to establish treatment goals as part of the comprehensive care plan for the consumer, and support the consumer in accessing those services
• Provide temporary assistance with transportation to essential medical and behavioral health appointments while transitioning to community-based transportation resources
• Provide RSN services to the consumer seven days per week, directly or on an on-call basis, including outside of business hours via telephonic coverage
• Provide services on a mobile basis to consumers in any setting that is safe for the consumer and staff
• Maintain professional relationships and connections with community resources and partners
• Engage and build rapport with consumer, assist with referrals and coordination to services and resources including but not limited to primary care, mental health treatment, addiction treatment, recovery support, employment specialists, housing specialists, DTA and other social supports
• Remain knowledgeable about the substance use disorder service system. Link the consumer to treatment and recovery resources including but not limited to Acute Treatment Services, residential treatment, nutritional counseling, support groups, medicated assisted treatment and Narcan education
• Helps peers to manage crises and strives to create safe spaces when meeting with peers
• Values communication and follows laws and rules concerning confidentiality, 42-CFR and respects others’ rights for privacy
• Maintain record-keeping as required by CFS, funding sources, and accreditation authorities
• Participate in all supervision and training activities as required by CFS, funding sources, and accreditation authorities

QualificationsRequired Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related field required. Must have a minimum two years of related work experience in the addition recovery environment or lived experience of substance use disorders and/or behavioral health conditions. Must have excellent communication and good working knowledge of computers, excellent organizational skills and the ability to excel at details, multi-tasking and working under pressure.

Travel Required

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation that meets CFS Driver Policy. Travel is required to provide services in different settings and to attend agency meetings, events, and trainings
