Job summary

Oaks Integrated Care Inc. in New Jersey is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist to guide individuals through recovery via one-to-one and group sessions.

You will maintain a caseload that includes veterans, military families, and individuals with mental health and substance use challenges. This role emphasizes recovery-oriented services, advocacy, and non-clinical case management within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Peer Certificate (NJ CPRS or NAADAC NCPRSS) or pursuing Peer Certification is required.
• At least one year of experience in recovery-related supports.
• Personal or family lived experience with mental health or substance use.
• Personal or family lived experience with military service preferred.
• Knowledge of recovery-based concepts and interventions.
• Knowledge of military and veteran culture, support networks and resources.
• Bilingual is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Utilize lived experience to guide recovery through individual and group peer support sessions.
• Maintain a caseload including veterans, military families, adults with serious mental illness, and those with substance use disorders.
• Foster a positive social environment to build recovery capital for participants.
• Develop community partnerships to support veterans and military families.
• Participate in community-based meetings and team-based care.
• Conduct regular follow-up via face-to-face, phone, and community outreach.
