SOME (So Others Might Eat) in Washington, DC is seeking a Residential Assistant to monitor and support residents at Kirwan House, ensuring health, safety, and well-being within the housing facility.

The role requires HS/GED and 3–5 years of experience in social services, including experience in addictions or mental health treatment. CPR/First Aid certification is required. Shifts are Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 am–12:00 pm (24 hours per week); this is an essential position.

Qualifications

• Must have HS/GED; 3-5 yrs experience in social services; experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree; 5+ yrs experience in social services; experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment; Valid Driver’s License.
• CPR/First Aid certification required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee house operations and ensure safe and efficient operations, report any safety/maintenance concerns.
• Provide clients with support to maintain progress on treatment goals.
• Plan and facilitate client participation in meaningful activity, both on-site and in the community including recovery.
• Facilitate on-site group meetings and provide coaching to residents to maintain recovery.
• Monitor and document medications taken by clients.
• Provide crisis management to clients as needed; document incidents according to policy and procedure.
• Maintain client documentation and complete all shift communication.
• Monitor client whereabouts and activities; conduct regular checks of program environment.
• Review client appointments and communicate with treatment team as needed.
• Ensure house chores are completed.
• Conduct drug screenings.
• Perform room inspections.
• Assist with client programming as needed.
• Ensure that household supplies are available.
• Perform various administrative tasks as needed.
• Transport clients as needed to meet program needs.
• Assist in preparing meals as needed.
