Qualifications

• Must have or have had a serious mental illness and be living well in recovery.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have GED or high school diploma.
• Must complete 40-hour Peer Support Specialist training within six months of hire.
• Knowledge of the recovery model of service delivery.
• Good written and verbal communication skills and basic computer skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
• Reliable transportation.
• Provide proof of state minimum liability insurance coverage.
• Valid Class C driver's license required, unless driving a vehicle with capacity of 8 or more; then Class D license required and be insurable.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to peers and assist them in reaching and maintaining recovery goals.
• Promote self-determination and help peers gain control and satisfaction over their lives.
• Promote skills for improving mental and physical wellbeing and resiliency.
• Assist individuals in identifying and utilizing natural supports and community resources.
• Collaborate to develop and implement individualized treatment and coping plans.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings for individuals on your caseload when applicable.
• Follow all safety procedures and promote team safety.
• Timely filing of receipts and mileage into online platform.
