Job summary

Resources for Human Development is seeking a Certified Peer Specialist to provide peer support, advocacy, recovery education, and skill-building to Individuals in Recovery. The role centers on fostering hope, promoting wellness, and coordinating recovery planning within the Recovery Support Team.

The CPS uses lived experience to mentor clients, helps create personalized service plans, and supports community integration while maintaining confidentiality and program standards.

Qualifications

• Pennsylvania CPS certification required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass Act 33 and State Police background checks.
• Self-identified current/former recipient of mental health or co-occurring services.
• At least 12 months of paid or volunteer experience within the past 3 years (one year of recent education may substitute).

Responsibilities

• Serve as an active member of the Recovery Support and CPS Teams.
• Use lived experience to model recovery and instill hope.
• Help individuals develop personalized Recovery Service Plans.
• Identify strengths, supports, and community resources.
• Document progress per program standards.
• Provide education on recovery tools such as WRAP and self-help.
• Utilize Motivational Interviewing to support behavior change.
• Support community integration activities and goal achievement.
