Job summary

Volunteers of America Colorado is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented support to women experiencing homelessness and housing instability. You will draw on lived experience to foster hope, engagement, and empowerment while guiding clients toward access to resources and long-term wellness goals.

Responsibilities include coordinating with shelter staff, clinicians, and community partners to connect women with housing resources, Medicaid enrollment,

Qualifications

  • Lived experience or knowledge of mental health/substance use.
  • Colorado driver’s license and state-mandated automobile insurance.
  • Own a vehicle for program-related transportation.
  • Preferred: lived experience of homelessness.
  • 1 year of related Peer Recovery support experience.
  • Maintains recovery from conditions for over a year.

Responsibilities

  • Connect women experiencing homelessness or housing instability with supportive resources.
  • Provide person-centered peer support to navigate stages of change.
  • Facilitate engagement with housing, healthcare, and behavioral health services.
  • Follow up to help participants move toward housing stability and wellness.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to support client goals.
  • Maintain confidential documentation and coordinate with partners.
