Job summary

Volunteers of America Colorado seeks a Peer Support Specialist to provide trauma-informed, recovery-oriented support to women experiencing homelessness and housing instability. You will draw on lived experience to help participants access housing, behavioral health resources, Medicaid enrollment, and community supports.

The role requires collaborating with shelter staff, clinicians, housing specialists, and community partners to promote housing stability and wellness.

Qualifications

• Lived experience or knowledge of mental health/substance use.
• Colorado driver’s license and state-mandated automobile insurance.
• Maintained recovery from their conditions for over a period of one year.
• Lived experience of homelessness.
• 1 year of related experience in Peer Recovery support.
• Possesses personal vehicle for transportation related to program needs.

Responsibilities

• Connect women to housing and supportive resources.
• Provide person-centered peer support to navigate stages of change.
• Engage shelter residents and connect to services including housing, healthcare, and benefits.
• Provide follow-up to promote housing stability and wellness.
• Collaborate with case managers and clinicians to promote positive outcomes.
