Responsibilities include providing recovery support, leading skills-building activities, and coordinating with case managers to connect clients to resources, while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a current or former substance abuse or mental health care service recipient who is engaged in own recovery for a minimum of two years.
• Certification through West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP).
• Must pass Peer Recovery Support Specialist exam and complete training hours (approx. 40–75 hours).
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery support to consumers.
• Conduct skills-building groups and activities as assigned by the supervisor.
• Act as a role model for consumers.
• Provide peer support services to individuals by using personal and professional life experiences.
• Work with the case manager to link individuals to needed services.
• Document one-to-one sessions and visits reflecting supportive role.
