Job summary

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is hiring a Recovery Coach to support individuals in recovery in hospital emergency departments and within the MPTN community. The role requires sobriety of at least 1 year, CCAR coaching training or certification, and a commitment to obtain required certifications within 6 months.

Responsibilities include offering non-clinical peer support, coordinating referrals, navigating health and social services, and traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 1 year of continuous abstinence from substance abuse.
• CCAR Recovery Coach training or CCAR certification; certifications within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle, insurance; DMV history required.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy; handle confidential matters.
• Adhere to Mashantucket Tribe Policies and Procedures.
• Recovery Coach Professional (RCP) designation or in process; complete within 3 months.
• Knowledge of culturally sensitive needs of the population served.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical, peer recovery coaching to keep individuals engaged in recovery.
• Meet regularly with individuals to support recovery goals.
• Provide coaching primarily in hospital EDs; collaborate with ED staff.
• Facilitate timely referrals and placements to treatment/recovery services.
• Connect patients to broader community care; navigate health and social services.
• Follow up coaching with ED recoverees as requested.
• Educate and assist family members as requested.
• Participate in ongoing recovery coach training and performance support.
• Ensure compliance with data tracking, reporting, and recordkeeping as required by CCAR.
• Travel required.
• Perform other related and compatible duties as assigned.
