Job summary

The Idaho State Police in Meridian is seeking applicants for a Technical Records Specialist 1. This role supports the Records division with data entry, records maintenance, and responding to public records requests.

You will work with a range of software used in records management and must handle sensitive information with discretion. Successful candidates will have experience in records systems, strong data entry skills, and the ability to interpret regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors.
• Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems.
• Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments.
• Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system.

Responsibilities

• Provide office support functions requiring in-depth knowledge of assigned program areas.
• Maintain a physical and electronic Records Management System to include data entry, proofreading reports for accuracy ensuring they are NIBRS compliant, communicating, and reconciling discrepancies.
• Fulfill public records requests and interagency requests for information as required by Idaho Statute, redact records as required, collaborate with law enforcement partners for appropriate responses, and use exemptions appropriately.
• Provide excellent customer service related to Idaho State Police operations, answer incoming phone calls, monitor, and respond to email inquiries from the general public.
• Process records documents including but not limited to court charging documents, incidents, towed and abandoned vehicles.
• Use a variety of Windows based computer programs such as Word and Excel to compile statistical data and reports.
• May be exposed to graphic or disturbing images associated with incidents.
• The incumbent will use some programs on a regular basis that are agency specific and may include Tiburon, Tyler Technologies: Public Safety Solutions, Axon, JustFOIA, E-Impact, ICourt, Luma, SWET, and the Microsoft Office Suite.
