Job summary

BMW of Minnetonka is seeking an experienced Automotive Recon Manager to lead a high-volume recon operation at the dealership. You will dispatch technicians, manage workflow, remove roadblocks, and ensure vehicles move from recon to frontline-ready.

The role reports to the Service Manager and requires strong leadership, coordination across departments, and a focus on efficiency and quality in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in automotive service, reconditioning, dispatch, or shop operations.
• 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience dispatching work and coordinating technicians.
• Ability to manage a high volume of internal work.
• Familiarity with repair orders, shop workflow, and vehicle reconditioning processes.
• Team-first leadership style and cross-department collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily workflow for a high-volume recon operation (~250 items).
• Dispatch repair orders based on technician skill, workload, and priorities.
• Collaborate with technicians to remove roadblocks and maintain throughput.
• Manage vehicles from inspection and repair approval to frontline readiness.
• Adjust workflow based on inventory, technician capacity, and parts.
• Create, estimate, and manage internal repair orders.
• Partner with Used Cars, Service, Parts, and Detail to keep recon moving.
• Track parts, vendor work, and potential delays.
• Communicate vehicle status, priorities, and delays to dealership leadership.
• Maintain quality standards throughout reconditioning.
• Drive technician productivity and a team-first shop environment.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve recon speed and efficiency.

You’ll dispatch technicians, manage workflow, remove roadblocks, and keep vehicles moving from recon to frontline-ready. The Recon Manage will report to the Service Manager and is an onsite position at the Dealership.

• Track parts, vendor work, additional repairs, and potential delays

• Identify bottlenecks and improve overall recon speed and efficiency

What You’ll Bring

• 2+ years of automotive service, reconditioning, dispatch, or shop operations experience
• 1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience
• Experience dispatching work and coordinating technicians
• Manage a high volume of internal work
• Experience with repair orders, shop workflow, and vehicle reconditioning processes
• Team-first leadership style and across departments
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Total Rewards

This is a performance driven position, eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives as part of total compensation, which includes $70,000-$100,000

Actual pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and physical location. Final compensation will be established through the interview process in accordance with applicable pay equity and transparency laws.
