Job summary

Requires 3+ years in housing programs, COS for HUD, and proficiency with Yardi/Voyager; bilingual Spanish is a plus. On-site Bronx location with competitive salary and sign-on bonus after evaluations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of Yardi or Voyager software helpful.
  • Three+ years of experience in low-income, senior, or housing programs.
  • COS certification for HUD programs.
  • Ability to maintain logs and write reports.
  • Bilingual in Spanish helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Documentation: Review tenant files for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HUD, LIHTC, or local housing regulations.
  • Income/Asset Verification: Calculate household income, assets, and expenses to determine rent, processing annual and interim recertifications.
  • Resident Interaction: Notify residents of upcoming recertifications, collect necessary documentation, and answer questions regarding the process.
  • Reporting & Systems: Maintain updated records, often using software like Yardi or Voyager, and generate compliance reports for management.

Recertification Specialist

Location: Bronx

Salary: $62,000 to $67,000 depending on experience, eligible for year‑end discretionary bonus and a sign‑on bonus of $3,000 after successful 3‑month and 6‑month evaluations.

A HUD Recertification Specialist manages the annual and interim re‑examination process for residents in HUD‑assisted housing, verifying income, assets, and household composition to ensure continued eligibility and compliance with federal regulations. They handle documentation, calculate tenant rent, and maintain accurate records for programs like Section 8 and LIHTC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance & Documentation: Review tenant files for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HUD, LIHTC, or local housing regulations.
  • Income/Asset Verification: Calculate household income, assets, and expenses to determine rent, processing annual and interim recertifications.
  • Resident Interaction: Notify residents of upcoming recertifications, collect necessary documentation, and answer questions regarding the process.
  • Reporting & Systems: Maintain updated records, often using software like Yardi or Voyager, and generate compliance reports for management.
