Job summary

Goodwin Living in Alexandria, VA is seeking a receptionist to support residents, visitors, and staff, while monitoring security systems and ensuring sign-in procedures are followed. You will route calls, receive packages, and support daily operations.

The role pays $20/hr with two weekend shifts: 12pm-8pm and 8am-4pm, Saturdays and Sundays. You’ll assist with access control, camera monitoring, and resident entry.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years experience in public relations, customer service, or related area required.
  • Must have computer skills in word processing.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully, effectively and with compassion with all people.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Must use discretion and independent judgment when performing job duties.

Responsibilities

  • Managing visitor sign-in protocols, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
  • Monitoring of fixed camera views on computers located at the Reception Desk
  • Responsible for counting and maintaining all cash transactions including but no limited to reconciling each cash bag and petty can drawer on each shift
  • Responding appropriately to requests to enter the building at monitored entry points and parking garage, with specific emphasis on ensuring identification is properly verified before entry is allowed
  • Handling request related to resident keyless locking system, including assisting or arranging assistance to residents.
  • Operates telephone console by recording and delivering messages, transferring incoming calls to residents and appropriate staff, and providing coverage to other departments as requested.
  • Assists with and/or is responsible for entering information in incident reports, communication log, and other records and reports.
  • Oversees and distributes facility, apartment/mailbox keys ensuring security guidelines and proper procedures are maintained.
  • Collects payments and fills out appropriate forms for guestrooms, guest meals; sells and distributes meal tickets; sells stamps, and cashes checks for residents as requested.
  • Uses computer to produce hospital and away list, daily change of status list, and various other memos.

About the Job:

Position is primarily responsible for providing a variety of receptionist activities in serving residents, visitors, and others that include managing and monitoring security systems within the community, as well as responding to security issues. The receptionist is expected to take an active and decisive role to ensure that sign in procedures are followed, camera views are properly monitored, lock outs and keyless lock system alarms are handled immediately. Additional duties include routing calls and use of computer programs, receive packages, and other deliveries.

The position pays $20/hr

There are 2 openings in this role.

One open shift is 12pm-8pm. This is for Saturday's and Sunday's.

The other open shift is 8am-4pm. This is also for Saturday's and Sunday's.
