Summary

Serve as receptionist and switchboard operator for Houston Ballet’s Center for Dance.

Part-time (Hours vary; primarily needed Fridays 7:30 AM–3:00 PM, Saturdays 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, and Sundays 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Act as an official greeter for everyone entering the Center for Dance and determine the needs of guests
  • Follow HB’s established COVID-19 protocols to screen visitors
  • Sign in guests and prepare badges for each individual
  • Announce by phone the name of the guestto a specific individual or department
  • As requested by employee or department: either ask that the guest wait in the lobby or escort the guest to the elevator and provide instruction on finding the individual or department
  • Answer all incoming calls and forward to appropriate employee
  • Respond to requests for information from incoming callers if possible or transfer them to individual departments for additional information
  • Pick up mail daily
  • Distribute all mail to appropriate mail boxes and notify individuals or departments of any deliveries
  • Schedule Federal Express pickups as required
  • Monitor shortages from vending machines on the first floor and keep records
  • Unlock and open front and rear gates
  • Unlock and open Physical Therapy Room and Coat Room
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Ability to interact with people.
  • Ability to use a switchboard and handle multiple incoming lines.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bilingual speaking proficiency in Spanish/English
Computer Skills

Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity and processing systems, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Work Environment

Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.

Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)

Hours vary. Shifts will fall withinthese timeframes: Monday – Friday 7:30am-9pm, Saturdays 7:30am-5:00pm, Sundays 9am-5pm.
