Job summary

Thurston County Superior Court seeks an Official Court Reporter to attend, report, and preserve the court record with realtime transcription capabilities. You will master sophisticated software and equipment to translate stenographic keystrokes into text for immediate display during proceedings.

Essential duties include verbatim reporting, transcript preparation, dictionary maintenance, and cross-referencing records.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, comprehend and follow related court rules and State laws.
• Compliance with WA rules and licensing requirements, including accuracy in transcription.
• Current WA Driver's License may be required.
• Proficiency with realtime transcription software and CASE Catalyst.

Responsibilities

• Attends and reports court proceedings verbatim using realtime capability and equipment.
• Prepares and certifies Verbatim Reports of Proceedings as requested.
• Maintains and expands computer dictionary for realtime court reporting equipment.
• Indexes court notes and files them with the County Clerk; maintains electronic records.
• Transcribes court proceedings for counsel at the expense of counsel and parties.
