Job summary

National Grid in Northborough, MA is seeking an Operator for our Transmission Control Center. You will operate the New England transmission system safely, securely, and efficiently in line with FERC, NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE, and National Grid requirements.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, another engineering discipline, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• NERC Reliability Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 2 years, is required.
• Must be on the Clearance and Control list, or able to obtain authorization within 2 months.
• Ability to work rotating shifts is required.

Responsibilities

• Safe, secure, reliable, and efficient operation of National Grid's New England Transmission system.
• Real-time analysis, monitoring, control and emergency response for the transmission system.
• Switching and tagging activities for planned, forced, and emergency outages.
• Coordinate planned, forced, and emergency outages with applicable entities.
• Operate transmission system equipment within established ratings.
• Implementation of ISO-NE and National Grid Emergency procedures.
• Monitor the health and accuracy of the EMS system.
• Communicate professionally; adhere to 3-part communication procedures.
• Ensure compliance with FERC, NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE standards.
• Train and develop new System Operators.
• Support an error-free environment; prevent outages and FERC/NERC fines.
• Represent the New England Control Center on ISO-NE and company committees.
• Maintain relationships with EMS staff, ISO-NE, field teams, and neighboring utilities.
• Maintain NERC Reliability Coordinator certification.
• Maintain Clearance and Control authorization.
