Job summary

BHE Montana LLC is seeking System Operators to ensure safe and reliable real-time operation of balancing authorities and generation assets. You will work from the NOC, monitor conditions, dispatch generation, and coordinate energy schedules while solving problems under pressure.

The role requires 24/7 rotating shifts, strong analytical skills, and ongoing certification. You will collaborate with utilities, market participants, and regulators to uphold grid reliability and safety in Great Falls,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Management, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Six years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility operations may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor Balancing Authority and generation assets in real time.
• Manage generation dispatch, interchange scheduling, reserve optimization, and coordination activities.
• Respond to system disturbances, outages, and emergencies while maintaining reliability and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with NERC, WECC, and other reliability standards through logging, monitoring, reporting, and actions.
• Coordinate switching activities, planned outages, and emergency restoration tasks.
• Support reporting, settlement, and operational activities for Company and third-party generation assets.
• Provide training, mentoring, and operational guidance to Associate System Operators.
• Develop and improve operating procedures, policies, guidelines, and training materials.
• Work with internal departments, neighboring utilities, reliability entities, market participants, and regulators.
• Maintain required certification and continuing education requirements.
