Job summary

WeGo Public Transit in Nashville, TN seeks a Dispatcher I to plan and assign manpower for bus and van service and to manage real-time dispatching for Access Ride and fixed-route operations. You will coordinate with operators, supervisors, and maintenance to ensure timely trips and adherence to schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts daily planning and assigning of manpower requirements for bus and van service.
• Records and reports daily lists of operators absent, excused from or who have failed to report for duty.
• Determines available manpower on extra-board and regular operators overtime board and Access Ride overtime board.
• Activates off-duty operators as necessary, using the most cost-effective manner.
• Dispenses necessary material (schedules, manifests, map books, etc.) to operators.
• Monitors the Access Ride van operators in the day-to-day operations to ensure quality and reliability of the service.
• Checks for time adherence using the passengers pick-up window and efficient completion of manifests.
• Maintains contact with operators using both the radio console and MDTs with van operators.
• Monitors maintenance for accurate van assignments for Access Ride service. Examines daily list of vans to be assigned to operators' routes.
• Sending all electronic manifests to the vehicles’ MDTs through Trapeze Workstation.
• Update information using the Service Interruption Report Monitor routes for on time departures.
• Coordinates communication related to road operations.
• Gives technical information regarding accidents, route changes, and vehicle breakdowns to Access Ride scheduling department.
• Assist operations supervisors and maintenance department in locating operators or buses.
• Maintains record keeping for bus and Access Ride operators.
• Use a computerized scheduling system to input operator information, to plot and design services based on operational needs and comply with all relevant data protection policies.
• Verifies correct pay times for all operators.
• Builds and inputs work schedule for part-time Access Ride operators.
• Process operators for medical screening and operators with Worker's Comp injuries.
• Distributes all mail to operators and communications from management to operators when necessary.
• Distributes the paperwork for special runs assigned to full-time operators.
• Performs other duties as assigned
