Job summary

City of Wichita is seeking a Real-Time Information Center operator to support officers, detectives and supervisors. You will monitor police activity, evaluate information, and operate drones and other public-safety technology to aid calls for service and investigations.

The role requires attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. FAA Part 107 certification is required within six months of appointment.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
• Must obtain FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate within six months of appointment and maintain required certifications.
• Must successfully complete RTIC and drone training and demonstrate continued proficiency in assigned systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitors police radio traffic, CAD information, camera systems and other public-safety technology.
• Operates unmanned aircraft systems in support of calls for service and investigations.
• Reviews live and recorded video to locate individuals or vehicles and assist investigations.
• Prepares reports and maintains accurate records of activities and operational outcomes.
• Appears in court to present evidence as required.
