Job summary

LiveKit is building the real-time media backend powering billions of calls a year. We’re seeking a Backend Engineer to Own and operate the LiveKit SFU and real time media distribution mesh, driving reliability, performance, and latency reductions across all sessions.

You’ll work with Go, Rust, and other languages to design scalable systems, adopt modern transport protocols like MoQ/WARP, and collaborate with client SDK and infra teams to ship customer-facing features.

Qualifications

• Strong systems programmer experience in real-time contexts.
• Proficiency in Go, Rust, C/C++, Java, or C# (Go preferred).
• Deep understanding of WebRTC stack: ICE, DTLS-SRTP, RTP/RTCP, congestion control, SDP.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate the LiveKit SFU and real time media distribution mesh, including reliability and on-call duties.
• Build new real-time systems to support customer-facing features from design through production.
• Drive down latency and improve call quality across all sessions on the platform.
• Assess and adopt modern media and transport protocols, including MoQ/WARP.
• Collaborate with client SDK, infra, and product teams on cloud mesh architecture and reliability.
