Job summary

LiveKit is seeking a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer to work on core services, telephony, and observability. You will own the design and delivery of low-latency, highly available systems, with decisions shipped directly into production.

Proficiency in Go, gRPC, Raft, NATS, Kubernetes, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry will help you synthesize scalable solutions and maintain system reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering distributed systems in production.
• Ability to prototype, test, ship, monitor, and iterate end-to-end.
• Comfort with consensus and distributed failure modes.
• Think in terms of data flow, state, performance, and correctness.
• Value clear communication and pragmatic engineering.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core control, data, and observability systems powering LiveKit Cloud.
• Implement resilient, region-spanning architectures that degrade gracefully under partial failure.
• Build libraries, protocols, and tooling to raise reliability and developer velocity.
• Diagnose and harden critical paths using metrics, tracing, testing, and real-world traffic insights.
• Shape new platform capabilities across identity, scheduling, observability, and distributed state management.
