Job summary

STATE STREET CORPORATION is seeking a Software Developer for the Market Data Interfaces (MDI) across the ADP platform. You will contribute to real-time and batch processing with Java, Spring, and modern cloud-native services while owning automated quality and production support.

You will work in an Agile Scrum team, design and implement RTAPI components, and help evolve data workflows, with a focus on reliability, observability, and collaboration across platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience.
• Strong professional software engineering experience in Java development.
• Proven experience building and maintaining enterprise backend systems or microservices.
• Strong understanding of OOD, data structures, concurrency, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and service-based application development.
• Strong SQL and database experience, including troubleshooting data issues.
• Experience building automated tests at multiple layers (unit/integration).
• Experience debugging complex issues across code, configuration, data, and environment boundaries.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated success in Agile/Scrum teams.
• Ability to collaborate across development, QA, support, and platform teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain RTAPI components and backend services for real-time and batch data processing.
• Build and support ADP microservices using event-driven patterns.
• Implement stories and fixes meeting acceptance criteria and Definition of Done.
• Troubleshoot production issues across distributed services and integration layers.
• Perform root cause analysis for defects impacting internal users and downstream systems.
• Write clean, well-tested Java code with emphasis on reliability and performance.
• Create and maintain automated unit, integration, functional, and regression tests.
• Improve QA automation coverage for APIs and vendor integrations.
• Validate data transformations and reference data workflows.
• Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and technical design discussions.
• Review code/test plans and design changes with peers.
• Contribute to build, deployment, and release readiness.
• Identify risks and blockers and drive cross-team resolutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Contribute to documentation, test strategy, and runbooks.
