Databento is a market data platform delivering real-time and historical data across futures, options, and equities via a unified API. We seek a midlevel to senior IC to own the Java client library and work on high-performance C/C++ server code for direct feed handling.

The role emphasizes ultra-low latency, multi-threaded processing, and collaboration with the systems team on CI/CD and deployment. A remote-friendly environment supports strong communication and independent work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience, preferably in trading/fintech or high-growth startups.
• Strong proficiency in both Java and C/C++.
• Experience designing intuitive, developer-friendly APIs.
• Familiarity with open source practices: release management, versioning, changelogs, issue triage.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain our Java client library, robust and well-tested for external users.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance server applications in C/C++.
• Write message parsers and feed handlers for direct market data feeds.
• Optimize code for high throughput and ultra-low latency (nanoseconds).
• Build tools for petabyte-scale data processing and analysis.
• Collaborate on build, deployment, CI/CD and monitoring practices.
• Ensure smooth feature rollouts and improved uptime.
