Job summary

Clearway Energy Group in Scottsdale, AZ seeks an Operations Specialist I/II to support the Operations Manager and Engineer, ensuring safety, reliability, and environmental standards while optimizing asset production across wind, solar, and battery storage assets.

You'll work 12.5-hour rotating shifts on-site, monitor real-time performance, coordinate with field teams, and handle reporting, telemetry, and compliance tasks to keep the fleet operating safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience in operations; three to four years preferred.
• Experience in a Solar, Wind, or BESS field technician role may count toward this requirement.
• Competent knowledge of plant and system processes and experience in operating electrical and SCADA systems.
• Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others.
• Ability to work in difficult customer situations and show strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a high-stress environment where decisions directly impact personnel safety and equipment reliability.
• Ability to work rotating shifts of 12.5 hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Available for 24-hour on-call duty to meet customer requirements.
• GED or High School Diploma
• Must possess a current NERC Reliability Coordinator (RC) certification, or have the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Monitor real-time activities, performance, and operational status to determine root cause and maintain data integrity for events.
• Identify abnormal operating and alarm conditions and react accordingly.
• Manage plant operations considering location, generation type, interconnect requirements, regional regulations, and customer contracts.
• Answer phones and emails during shift.
• Coordinate, document, and implement remedial actions to maximize equipment availability and production/revenue.
• Interpret and execute activities associated with asset contracts including capacity scheduling/reporting and telemetry issues.
• Operate multiple plants per regulatory requirements (CPUC/WECC/Prudent Utility Practices).
• Coordinate with Field Operations teams for plant status verifications, downtime reporting, and safe actions of remote equipment.
• Coordinate with Scheduling Coordinators, Transmission Operators, and Reliability Entities for status notifications or Operating Instructions.
• Support commissioning of projects by coordinating test energy scheduling and power plant operations, ensuring safety and compliance.
