Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL seeks a Flight Software Developer to design and implement robust, real-time embedded C++ software for airborne subsystems. You will work on modular software across embedded flight code, analysis tools, and mission planning, using RTOS, JTAG debuggers, and development tools in a collaborative, Agile environment.

Responsibilities include unit/integration testing, code reviews, and troubleshooting of issues while supporting fielded software and customer interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field with GPA 3.0+
• U.S. citizen eligible for DoD clearance
• 0–18 years of relevant technical experience
• Experience developing embedded software or interfaces with embedded systems
• Knowledge of software engineering practices (requirements, config mgmt, version control, reviews, CI)
• Proficiency in C/C++, Java, C#, Rust, or Python; learning modern C++
• Experience with unit/integration tests and test frameworks
• Familiarity with Agile tools (e.g., GitLab, Jira, Trello)
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows development tools
• Ability to work in a team and participate in peer reviews

Responsibilities

• Design and develop modern C++ embedded software for airborne subsystems
• Develop software following safety standards with peers and seniors
• Create/execute/automate unit and integration tests
• Work in an Agile team with planning, estimation, and progress reporting
• Participate in code reviews to maintain quality
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues and bugs
• Contribute to technical documentation and build/test pipelines
• Collaborate with customers and teammates regularly
• Assist with the fielding, test, and sustainment of software
