Job summary

SEI/Carnegie Mellon University seeks an enthusiastic assistant real-time embedded engineer to work on safety-critical embedded software across bare-metal systems, RTOSes, FPGAs, and embedded Linux. You will develop tools, analyze complex hardware/software interactions, and contribute to DoW lifecycle processes.

You will need a BS in CS/EE, strong C/C++, VHDL/Verilog, Python, and experience with CMSIS/HAL. Travel up to 25% and onsite work at SEI or customer facilities are required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in a collaborative software development environment.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, VHDL/Verilog, Python, or C#.
  • Bare-metal systems and CMSIS/HAL drivers familiarity.
  • Experience with FPGAs and heterogeneous computing boards.
  • Exposure to modern RTOSes (VxWorks, Integrity).
  • Experience with I2C, CAN, SPI, RS-232, RS-422 interfaces.
  • Embedded software development and performance testing experience.
  • Understanding of DoW Systems Engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong communication skills; able to convey complex tech to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Understand complex, inter-dependent embedded systems across multiple abstraction levels.
  • Design and develop embedded software tools to analyze, test, and evaluate existing software.
  • Apply systems engineering knowledge to identify weaknesses and traceability from requirements.
  • Utilize static/dynamic analysis and complexity tools to uncover weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct research and knowledge-sharing to enhance software development processes and SoS understanding.
