Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University seeks an experienced senior real-time embedded engineer to develop safety-critical embedded software for bare-metal systems, RTOS, FPGAs, and embedded Linux. The role requires collaboration with software and hardware teams and travel for DoW-related work.

The candidate should have a strong background in multiple programming languages, embedded interfaces, and systems engineering with DoW security clearance eligibility. Onsite work is required in the SEI environment.

Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in CS/EE with required years of experience.
  • Experience in collaborative software development teams.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and one or more of the listed languages.
  • Experience with bare-metal systems, RTOS, FPGAs, embedded Linux.
  • Familiarity with common embedded interfaces: I2C, CAN, SPI, RS-232/422.

Responsibilities

  • Understand complex, inter-dependent embedded systems spanning multiple abstraction levels.
  • Design and develop embedded software tools to analyze, test, and evaluate existing software.
  • Apply systems engineering to identify weaknesses and flawed implementations of embedded functionality.
  • Utilize static/dynamic analysis to uncover weaknesses, security issues, and ensure robustness.
  • Conduct research and knowledge sharing to improve software development processes and SoS performance.
