Job summary

Lynker Corporation in College Park, MD is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to support the Environmental Modeling Center (EMC) at NOAA NCWCP. The role focuses on developing ML-based data assimilation systems to complement physics-based workflows and test prototypes alongside traditional DA processes.

You will design data pipelines, collaborate with NOAA teams, implement AI-RTMA components, and evaluate model performance.

Qualifications

• Experience developing, training and deploying AI-based systems applied to geophysical systems.
• Experience with PyTorch and TensorFlow.
• Experience with earth observation data including satellite and radar.
• Excellent Python programming skills.
• Practical experience utilizing HPCs/GPUs and UNIX scripting.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review state-of-the-art AI-based data assimilation and forecasting methodologies.
• Define product requirements for AI-RTMA with stakeholders.
• Design and maintain data pipelines for AI-RTMA training, validation, and testing.
• Develop, train, test and deploy AI-RTMA systems.
• Implement cross-validation and evaluation for inference performance.
