Job summary

Rainmaker Technology Corporation in the United States is hiring its first dedicated Machine Learning Researcher. You will identify the highest-value ML problems, prototype models, and partner with meteorologists, data engineers, and software engineers to turn research into production systems.

You will build models for forecasting, nowcasting, state estimation, and data fusion using multimodal observations, with an emphasis on practical impact and robust evaluation.

Qualifications

• Evidence of exceptional ability in machine learning research and engineering, demonstrated in academia, industry, or independent work.
• Strong command of modern machine-learning methods and practical experience training, evaluating, and debugging models.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX) with ability to build working prototypes.
• Ability to translate ambiguous problems into measurable targets, tractable experiments, credible baselines, and actionable results.

Responsibilities

• Assess potential ML projects across Rainmaker and prioritize by operational value, data readiness, and feasibility.
• Deliver an operationally useful model or prototype within the first three months.
• Build models for forecasting, nowcasting, data fusion, and atmospheric-state estimation.
• Develop methods to forecast supercooled liquid water and cloud-seeding opportunities.
• Collaborate with meteorologists, scientists, and engineers to define targets and ground truth.
• Write research-quality software and hand prototypes to production-ready code.
