Job summary

Trust for Public Land is seeking a Junior Legal Assistant - Real Property Specialist to support attorneys and staff in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with park creation and land protection projects. You will assist in documenting transactions, managing files and coordinating agreements under counsel supervision.

The role emphasizes organization, attention to detail, and strong communication while working across teams and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 0-2 years experience in real estate, land conservation, construction, planning, infrastructure, compliance, legal, grant-funded or government projects
• Self-motivated with ability to work without direct supervision
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to handle diverse personalities
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Acrobat and email software; willingness to learn proprietary platforms

Responsibilities

• Coordinate preparation, review, execution and tracking of agreements under the supervision of counsel
• Collect and review insurance, licensing, warranty and compliance documents from vendors and partners
• Manage project documentation, reporting, compliance tracking and data collection
• Assist with bid packages, contractor selection, and design/construction contracts; familiarity with AIA contracts is a plus
• Order and review title documents, surveys and other due diligence reports
• Track real estate taxes and file tax exemption applications where applicable
• Develop relationships with internal teams, public agencies and partners
• Maintain legal files, calendars and document management processes
