Confidential in Paramus, NJ is seeking a Property Accountant to manage the monthly close and reporting for a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties.

Responsibilities include posting rental activity, finalizing accruals with Property Managers, reviewing statements, and supporting audits and analyses of revenues, expenses, and distributions.

This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication with stakeholders, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• CPA preferred.
• 5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
• Experience with Microsoft Office; Yardi preferred.
• Proactive self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Execute the monthly financial accounting close and reporting for multiple properties.
• Post rental activity, report preliminary rents, and finalize monthly accruals with Property Managers.
• Review draft financial statements, identify reconciling entries and accrual adjustments, and finalize financials with senior property management.
• Assist with the year-end audit and tax return process by working closely with external auditors to provide financial information and review returns.
• Perform special analyses on property performance, including revenues, operating expenses, and property accruals and allocations.
• Ensure monthly distributions to ownership are completed and accurately accounted for.
• Ensure payroll allocations are properly recorded for each property.
• Monitor rent collections from residential properties and analyze outstanding tenant receivables.
• Review monthly credit card statements and perform variance analysis as needed.
