Job summary

Plona Partners is representing a prestigious global law firm in its search for an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join the Chicago practice. This is a senior, non-traditional paralegal role working on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions alongside a 12-lawyer Chicago team.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of CRE paralegal experience in a mid-size or large law firm, with deep knowledge of title, survey and zoning matters, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial real estate paralegal experience.
• Experience in a mid‑ to large law firm is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of title, survey and zoning.
• BA/BS required; Paralegal Certificate preferred.
• Excellent organization and communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee title, zoning and survey requirements.
• Review title commitments and underlying documents.
• Prepare title, survey, and zoning materials.
• Prepare and record real estate documents.
• Prepare and file corporate documentation.
• Manage UCC filings and amendments.
• Handle tax-related documentation and exemptions.
• Coordinate signature pages and closing materials.
• Maintain transaction files and deadlines.
• Collaborate with partners and senior staff.

Plona Partners is representing one of the most prestigious global law firms in the market on a highly selective search for an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join its busy Chicago practice.

This is not a traditional paralegal opening.

The successful candidate will join a sophisticated commercial real estate platform and work directly alongside a 12-lawyer Chicago team, handling complex transactions and taking significant ownership over title, survey, zoning, diligence, UCC matters and closings.

For a senior Real Estate Paralegal who has spent their career inside a sophisticated law firm environment, this is an opportunity to bring that experience to an elite platform with a substantial volume of high-level work.

THE OPPORTUNITY

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

The Real Estate Paralegal will play a significant role across commercial real estate transactions, including:

• Overseeing title, zoning and survey requirements
• Reviewing title commitments, underlying documents and surveys
• Preparing title, survey and zoning materials
• Preparing and recording real estate documents
• Preparing and filing corporate documentation
• Preparing, amending, modifying and terminating UCC filings
• Handling tax-related documentation, exemptions, divisions and consolidations
• Coordinating signature pages and closing materials
• Maintaining transaction files and managing competing deadlines

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This search is intentionally senior.

The ideal candidate will bring:

• 10+ years of commercial real estate paralegal experience
• Experience within a mid-size or large law firm environment
• Deep knowledge of title, survey and zoning matters
• Strong academic credentials and a BA/BS
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to operate confidently with partners, associates, clients and senior staff
• Strong judgment, discretion and problem-solving skills
• The ability to perform in a busy practice where deadlines and priorities can move quickly

A Paralegal Certificate is preferred but not required.
