Job summary

Regions Financial Corporation seeks a Capital Markets Assistant General Counsel to provide legal support to the Real Estate Capital Markets (RECM) team, including document negotiation, outside counsel oversight, and underwriting assistance for FNMA, Freddie Mac, HUD, and related RECM products.

The role requires a law degree with 6+ years in commercial real estate lending law within financial services or similar practice, plus active bar admission and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Law degree
• Six (6) years of commercial real estate lending legal experience in the financial services industry, or at a law firm with strong knowledge of bank regulations or other relevant practical legal experience
• Licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
• Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements related to commercial real estate

Responsibilities

• Provides legal support and guidance to the RECM team, with emphasis on document negotiation, outside counsel management, and assisting underwriting staff with legal oversight of RECM loans (FNMA, Freddie Mac, HUD) and related products
• Ensures adherence to Regions' policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
• Works within Regions' governance practices to address risks and protect legal/reputational interests
• Keeps up to date with market trends relevant to RECM
• Exempts from timekeeping under FLSA and eligible for incentive plans
