Job summary

Capital One’s Legal Department is seeking an experienced commercial real estate finance attorney to support its growing Commercial Bank. You will be a primary subject matter expert for the CRE business, handling multifamily agency financing with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/HUD loan production, asset management and servicing.

You’ll advise Agency Finance and work with risk, compliance and outside counsel, pursuing innovative transactions and leading negotiation guidelines, training, and

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school
• Active member in good standing of a state bar
• 4+ years of attorney experience in a law firm, government agency, military JAG, or in-house counsel

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to Agency Finance as a trusted advisor to transaction teams and internal partners
• Collaborate with Risk and Compliance to evaluate GSE/FHA requirements and develop compliance policies
• Track and manage sub-servicing documentation related to Freddie Mac securitizations
• Oversee outside counsel efficiently and effectively
• Partner with other internal counsel and business teams across Capital One
• Advise on communications with customers, regulators, partners and law firms
• Provide thought leadership on regulatory developments and industry trends
• Lead projects like negotiation guidelines and training sessions
• Work with Operations to drive process improvements
