Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled real estate attorney to manage end-to-end residential and commercial transactions in the New York metropolitan area. You will draft and negotiate purchase agreements, riders, and related documents, and examine title reports for defects.

Represent buyers, sellers, and lenders at closings; coordinate with title underwriters, authorities, and brokers; and prepare closing figures and transfer documents.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • 2+ years of intensive transaction processing will be considered.
  • Active, good-standing New York State Bar admission.
  • 3–5+ years of dedicated transactional real estate law experience in a law firm setting.
  • Ability to independently manage high-volume transaction files without hand-holding.
  • Excellent client-facing skills and professional polish.
  • Willingness to travel between office locations and closings.

Responsibilities

  • Assume complete, end-to-end responsibility for a high-volume pipeline of residential and commercial real estate transactions from initial retainer through post-closing
  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale contracts, riders, amendments, and related deal documentation
  • Examine title reports and identify encumbrances, liens, or title defects
  • Work with title underwriters, municipal authorities, and counterparties to resolve title-clearance issues
  • Prepare closing figures, closing statements, and transfer documents
  • Represent buyers, sellers, and institutional lenders at real estate closings across the metropolitan area
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, real estate brokers, mortgage lenders, loan officers, and opposing counsel
  • Coordinate on matters involving estate administration, family property transfers, or corporate entity structuring and governance related to real estate holdings
  • Operate autonomously so firm leadership can focus on business development and client acquisition

  • 3 to 5+ years of dedicated transactional real estate law experience in a law firm setting
  • Candidates with 2+ years of intensive transaction processing will also be considered
  • Proven ability to independently manage high-volume transaction files without hand-holding
  • Outstanding client-facing skills and professional polish
  • Ability to cultivate trusted relationships with referring brokers and lenders
  • High proficiency with modern practice management platforms, document automation, and digital office tools
  • Active driver’s license and personal vehicle access
  • Willingness to travel between office locations and closings as necessary
  • Prior exposure to estate planning, probate property sales, or corporate governance/closings is valued
  • Existing referral network or modest portable book of business ($100,000–$200,000+) is strongly welcomed but not required
