Job summary

Origin Investments is seeking an Acquisitions Associate in Charlotte, NC to join its growing acquisitions team. You will underwrite opportunities, build models in Excel and ARGUS, prepare memoranda, and collaborate with data science and investment teams through the full investment lifecycle.

The role requires 1+ years in real estate and strong analytical skills, with a hybrid in-office schedule (4 days in, 1 remote) and a compensation package including base salary and bonus potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field
• 1+ years of full-time real estate experience, preferably within private equity, real estate credit, investment banking, brokerage, valuation & advisory, or related field
• Strong understanding of real estate investment fundamentals and financial analysis
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and financial modeling
• Experience with ARGUS Enterprise strongly preferred
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with ability to clearly communicate complex investment concepts
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Highly motivated, independent, and self-directed with a strong sense of ownership
• Intellectually curious with willingness to learn and improve
• Collaborative team player with a hungry and humble approach
• Strong interest in leveraging technology, data science, machine learning, and AI to improve real estate investment decisions
• Ability to work across investment, data science, investor relations, and asset management teams

Responsibilities

• Underwriting prospective real estate acquisitions using Excel and ARGUS Enterprise
• Building and maintaining detailed financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, returns, risk, and sensitivity
• Preparing investment presentations and memoranda for investment committee
• Conducting market data research to evaluate opportunities and trends
• Collaborating with Investment Management to refine underwriting methodologies
• Participating in property inspections, market tours, and meetings with local market participants
• Supporting evaluation of investment structures and financing terms
• Performing due diligence for acquisitions readiness for closing
• Coordinating with stakeholders throughout acquisition and closing
• Supporting transition of investments to Investment and Asset Management teams
• Communicating updates to Investor Relations
• Working with Data Science to support ML/AI-driven analytics
• Contributing to process improvements and strategic initiatives
• Managing multiple opportunities and deadlines with high accuracy
• Supporting additional acquisitions, investment, and analytics initiatives
