Job summary

Silvi Materials is offering a Ready Mix Operations Internship for Summer 2027, based in Morrisville, PA, or locations across New Jersey. You will work with Plant Managers and Mechanics and gain a hands-on view of running a high-volume ready-mix plant during a 10–12 week program.

You will learn batching formulas, field visits to mines, and hands-on heavy equipment/plant maintenance. Enrollment in an engineering or materials science program and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a collegiate program, preferably in Concrete Industry Management, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, General Engineering, Construction Management, or Materials Science.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day production responsibilities of a ready-mix concrete plant.
• Learn how to batch concrete, from formulas to achieving the slump.
• Hands-on experience forming concrete blocks for clients and company use.
• Work alongside Maintenance, quality control, and dispatch in a team-driven environment.
• Evaluate aggregates for batching and stockpile purposes.
• Maintain machinery from conveyors to hydraulics/pneumatics.
• Learn to operate a Front-End Loader and other heavy equipment.
• Travel to Silvi Materials concrete plant locations for exposure to Ready Mix and Dry Batch plants.

As a Silvi Materials Operations Intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into the world of concrete and learn what the world’s most used building material is all about. You'll work alongside our Plant Managers and Plant Mechanics and see what it takes to run a Ready-Mix plant. Your 10–12-week experience will include everything from learning the aggregate business, field visits to our other mines (Sand) and hands on heavy equipment/plant maintenance. The goal of the Ready Mix Operations Internship is to give individuals a hands‑on look at what it takes to run a high-yardage producing plant!

So, what does an Operations intern do? As an Operations Intern, you'll be an integral part of our plant operations:

Assist in the day‑to‑day production responsibilities of a ready‑mix concrete plant, including:

• Learn how to batch concrete, everything from formulas to how to achieve the perfect slump (real-world experience)
• Hands‑on experience forming concrete blocks for clients and company use.
• Working alongside Maintenance, quality control, and dispatch. (Team‑driven environment)
• Aggregate evaluation for batching and stockpile purposes.
• Maintain machinery, from conveyors to hydraulics/pneumatics. (Hands‑on, tools out)
• Operation of heavy equipment (Learn how to operate a Front‑End Loader)
• Travel to various Silvi Materials Concrete Plant Locations (Ready Mix and Dry Batch Plants Exposure)

Qualifications Required:
