Job summary

The Sioux Falls School District is seeking a Reading Tutor to provide targeted, evidence-based reading intervention through daily small-group instruction to support students' literacy growth. This position will provide one-on-one and small-group instruction to students identified as needing additional reading support.

While the individual will be employed by the Sioux Falls School District, instructional services will be provided to students at Westside Christian.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet diverse needs of students.
• Demonstrated skills in use of technology to enhance student learning.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to improve reading skills (phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension).
• Deliver lessons aligned with teacher plans, literacy curriculum, and student reading levels.
• Use guided reading strategies, sight word practice, and other age-appropriate methods.
• Support students in developing confidence and motivation as readers.
