Job summary

Summit Public Schools seeks a Literacy Intervention Tutor to provide targeted literacy support in-person across California sites, collaborating with teachers and leadership to accelerate student growth.

You will use EL Education, Odell Education, and AP-aligned materials to close gaps, monitor progress with daily trackers, and adjust strategies based on diagnostics and team feedback. A strong focus on equity and parent communication guides practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
• Experience tutoring or mentoring middle/high school students in reading or writing is desirable.
• Ability to adapt instruction based on student needs and feedback.
• Strong relationships with students to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with teachers and families.

Responsibilities

• Guide targeted practice in foundational reading skills and vocabulary.
• Pre-teach and re-teach concepts aligned with EL/Odell/AP curricula.
• Align tutoring with grade-level content for coherence with core instruction.
• Deliver small-group and one-on-one literacy tutoring across blocks and SDL times.
• Use assessment data to adjust tutoring strategies with guidance from leadership.
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers and specialists to support students.
