Job summary

Ampact’s Reading Corps is seeking a Reading Tutor to help local students become strong readers in partner schools. You’ll deliver proven activities, coach students, and be supported by training and on-site coaches throughout the program year.

Schedule features daytime, weekday hours with 35 hours per week; AmeriCorps members receive a biweekly paycheck with a $17.94 per hour stipend, health insurance, childcare assistance, and educational loan benefits. Positions run Oct 2026–Jun 2027.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (email and navigating online).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading and writing.
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult who's focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
