Job Title: Reading Specialist - Substitute Location: Dunn's Corners School Class Title: Long Term Substitute 4-6 Weeks Effective Date: 11/19/26 Salary Range:$150 - $175 per day Hours per week:Full Time

General Statement:The Elementary Reading Specialist delivers high-impact foundational literacy instruction to early learners (Grades K-5) to close achievement gaps and accelerate student growth. Grounded in Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) standards and the Rhode Island Right to Read Act, this position provides explicit, systematic structured literacy instruction and early diagnostic support. The specialist partners closely with grade-level educators to foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment-ensuring every student receives personalized attention, feels comfortable asking questions, and develops a lifelong foundation in literacy.

Responsibilities:

• Provide small group and individual reading intervention to students identified as needing tier support.
• Use data to design lessons that differentiate instruction for students’ needs.
• Provide support by using research based strategies and lessons to support student learning through print and web based supports.
• Collaborate with content teachers and district leadership.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • Evidence of leadership experience.
  • Evidence of teaching reading across content areas.
  • Evidence of using a multi-sensory approach when appropriate.
  • Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with teachers.
• Education:
  • Masters Degree Required.
• Certification & Licensing:
  • Must meet the current RI Department of Education requirements and or certifications.
• Authorized to work in the USA
• Current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
