Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Reading Room Specialist to support radiology operations in a fast-paced environment. You will manage reading room activities, coordinate imaging-related requests, and assist radiologists and clinical staff to ensure timely, accurate dictations.

The role requires excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and a customer-focused approach. 6 months radiology experience and familiarity with Radiology Information Systems are preferred, with an emphasis on service quality

Qualifications

  • Good organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Experience in Radiology Department is preferred (6 months).
  • Efficient use and/or knowledge of RIS is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Support radiology reading room operations and maintain an organized work area.
  • Coordinate imaging-related requests and ensure timely processing.
  • Assist radiologists and clinical staff with patient flow and documentation.
  • Maintain radiology files and ensure accessibility of previous studies.
  • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate empathy and professionalism when addressing patient concerns.

Job description

We're looking for a Reading Room Specialist to join our growing team! This position is responsible for managing incoming communications, coordinating imaging-related requests, supporting radiologists and clinical staff, and maintaining efficient department operations. Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, high-volume healthcare setting. Purpose:

Maintain operations in the radiology reading areas. Provide an organized work area in the reading room. Ensure that the radiologist's needs are met and ensure all radiology exams are dictated within twenty-four hours.

Responsibilities:

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimal typing skills are required. The Reading Room Specialist must demonstrate good organizational and communication skills. 6 months experience within the Radiology Department is preferred along with the efficient use and/or knowledge of the Radiology Information System.
