Job summary

Hillsborough County Public Schools is seeking a Literacy Coach to oversee reading implementation and support professional development for school personnel in the Tampa district. The role focuses on ensuring comprehensive reading instruction and compliance with state and federal requirements.

The coach will provide instructional coaching for ELA/Reading teachers, develop staff development sessions, and monitor progress of the district's Evidence-Based Reading Plan.

Qualifications

• Requires Florida Professional Educator Certificate with Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification.
• Three years of classroom teaching experience with two years in management or supervisory roles.
• Educational Leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional coaching to English Language Arts (ELA)/Reading teachers to improve reading instruction and student outcomes.
• Develops and conducts staff development for classroom teachers.
• Maintains and monitors implementation of Hillsborough County Public Schools’ K-12 Reading Plan as approved by the state.
• Demonstrates knowledge of best practices in literacy instruction.
• Delivers professional development for targeted audiences in literacy instruction and instructional topics.
• Provides coaching to improve literacy instruction, classroom organization, and use of curriculum resources.
• Conducts data conferences to interpret data and plan instruction; models effective teaching techniques for groups.
