Job summary

Richland County School District One is seeking a Reading Coach to serve as a school-based literacy leader, providing job-embedded professional learning and coaching to teachers. The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and administrators to improve literacy instruction, assessment practices, and student reading achievement.

The position focuses on supporting differentiated instruction, data-informed planning, and alignment with Read to Succeed requirements, while remaining non-evaluative

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher with R2S Literacy Coach or similar endorsement; or pursuing endorsement.
• Five years of experience in reading or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides job-embedded coaching to teachers through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, and feedback.
• Supports teachers in evidence-based literacy practices across phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.
• Analyses literacy data from multiple sources to guide instructional decisions and monitor progress.
• Works with administrators to align literacy initiatives with district priorities and Read to Succeed requirements.
• Attends district leadership and planning sessions to support school literacy improvement.
