Job summary

Duval County Public Schools is seeking a Reading teacher specialist to provide explicit reading instruction in one-to-one or small-group settings to improve reading skills for identified students. The role partners with the school principal and a reading teacher to design and implement intervention plans aligned with regular classroom reading goals.

The candidate will monitor student progress, report results, and adjust interventions to boost reading achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• 3 years continuous reading teaching experience at the elementary level; 4 years continuous reading teaching experience at the secondary level.
• Florida Teaching certificate in Elementary Education K-6 (Elem. level).
• Florida teaching certificate in Reading OR Reading endorsement at the secondary level.
• Strong ability to analyze data from identified assessments and plan targeted reading interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provides intensive reading instruction in one-on-one or small groups for at-risk students.
• Coordinates with principals and reading teachers to design intervention plans aligned with classroom objectives.
• Monitors progress and reports student progress through a database system.
• Develops schedules for one-on-one or small-group reading support based on data analysis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
