Job summary

Catch Up & Read is seeking a Literacy Coach to lead high-quality literacy interventions and coach teachers in evidence-based practices. You will support data-driven decisions, build school partnerships, and contribute to program growth across campuses.

The role reports to the Director of Programs and requires 3–5 years teaching reading in EC–6, plus 1–2 years coaching educators. Travel to schools 3–4 days/week is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience teaching reading in EC–6th grade, preferably in Title I schools.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience coaching educators.
• Valid Texas Teaching Certificate required in EC-6 or Grades 4-8.
• Knowledge of the Science of Reading and explicit, systematic phonics required.
• Familiarity with mCLASS, MAP, or iReady reading assessments preferred.
• Strong instructional coaching and modeling skills.
• Bilingual teaching or coaching experience appreciated.
• Organized and detail-oriented; able to manage data, schedules, and reports.
• Analytical; able to use data to drive instructional and coaching decisions.
• Flexible, adaptable, and eager to learn with a growth mindset.
• Collaborative and joyful; works effectively with principals, teachers, peers, and parents.
• Values-driven, with a commitment to equity and CAR’s mission.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, reading assessment systems, and comfortable learning new data platforms.
• Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance with ability to drive to schools 3-4 days/week.
• Ability to push/pull/lift 20-30 lbs.
• Pass all required background checks, including any school district requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAR program with fidelity to ensure end-of-year growth targets and coaching of teachers.
• Coach and observe teachers in literacy practices and provide actionable feedback.
• Lead data-driven PLCs and data meetings to connect practice to student outcomes.
• Manage data entry across school platforms and ensure FERPA compliance.
• Build relationships with principals, CAR Champions, lead teachers, and families.
• Organize parent engagement sessions and support program-wide growth initiatives.
• Represent CAR at school events and coordinate site visits with funders and prospects.
